As a project manager you are responsible for the success of a project and of course you want nothing more than to have successful projects on your CV. Yet it happens regularly that the 'wrong' project manager is assigned to the 'wrong' project and partly because of this the project fails. Why is this?
A client does not always check whether the project in question fits the project manager or not. Yet the realization of an infrastructure project requires a different project manager with a different balance of competencies than a healthcare project.
We cannot place the responsibility for a good match between the project manager and the available project solely on the clients. As a project manager, you share this responsibility and should evaluate your strong and less strong competences.
